It is a great pleasure to offer this Fine rare french fusee brass timepiece carriage clock by R.E.D for sale.I would date this clock circa 1880.The circular case offers a full view of the movement through a one piece beveled cylindrical glass held in place between the front and rear brass case rings securely by half bluster pillars. The two feet on the front of the case hold the clock in place while the case leans back to give the optimum time viewing angleThe 8 day chain driven 10 turn fusee movement is powered by a rare duel plane escapement. the duel plain escapement gives the effect of a pin wheel escapement which is very often found in the highest of quality regulator clocks. The movement has been fully serviced as such is in perfect working order giving and interested client piece of mind that the clock can be admired for what it is without the worry of any future expense. The back plate is stamped R,E,D BREVETE PARIS as shown in the pictures. The clock is wound and time adjustment from the rear of the clock behind the shutter mechanism. The 3 inch dial with blued steel hands and roman numerals is also in perfect condition.as can be seen in the pictures reference is made to this clock on page 213/214 of the book "carriage clocks their history and development" by Charles Allix and Peter Bonnert.I would describe the overall condition as excellent and ready to be displayed.Like all antiques there is the odd minor mark but the condition with delight the most discerning buyer.Interested parties are very welcome to view the item.
